Quiet on Set

2024 Four Part Docu Series. ID / MAX

"Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV" pulls  back the curtain on an empire, built by creator Dan Schneider, that had an undeniable grip on popular culture. Over its four-parts, the docuseries offers unprecedented access to key cast members, writers, and crew spanning Schneider’s popular series at Nickelodeon and spotlighted their emotional accounts; chronicling a pattern of gross, abusive, and manipulative behavior that unfolded across decades, as well as stories about child predators on set.

“Quiet on Set” ignited a viral online response and has helped catalyze a collective reckoning with the dark underbelly of children’s entertainment. The first four episodes of “Quiet on Set” have been watched by 20 million viewers across cable network ID and streamers Max and Discovery+ since the first two episodes premiered on ID March 17 and the following two on March 18.

The show has reached the largest audience of an unscripted series since the launch of Max in May.

This project was all about exposing what happens behind the scenes. We took backstage spaces — the writers room, the green room, the video village — and made them center stage to shed light on the toxic culture that persisted for so many years.

We made these spaces feel immersive and dangerous with color palettes reminiscent of the children’s shows, and a bit of slime green oozing into each frame.
